DIRECT AND INDIRECT SPEECH

In the last class we studied the following points, which are accompanied by some exercises done by me, for greater illustration and practice of the subject

Past perfect 

Had + the verb in past participle

For example: 

Was or Were: Had been 

Talked: Had talked 

Cleaned: Had cleaned

Present perfect

Have + the verb in past participle 

Have been=(past perfect) had been 

Past future of WILL -> Would 

Can -> Could 

Examples

1. Mom said “We have to talk more in the nights.”

Mom said that we had to talk more in the nights. (Present perfect)

2. Pablo said “I live in Paris right now.” 

Pablo said that he lived in Paris right now. (Present Simple) 

3. Andrea said “I’ll be back at 5 pm” 

Andrea said that she would be back at 5 pm. (Future simple)

4. Juan said “I arrived at home after my mom.” 

Juan said that he had arrived at home after his mom. (Past perfect)

5. Luisa said “I have finished my homework of today.”

Luisa said that she had finished her homework of today. (Present perfect)

6. Daniela said “I was talking with Luis.” Daniela said that she had been talking with Luis (Past continuos)

7. My English teacher said “I can understand perfect english.” My english teacher said that she could understand perfect Spanish.
